Veteran NTA broadcaster, Aisha Bello, dies

A popular broadcaster with the Nigerian Television Authority, Aisha Bello Mustapha, is dead.

Bello, who was well known on the Network News at 9pm, was said to have passed on in the early hours of Monday.

While details about her death are still sketchy, she was said to have served as a General Manager of the NTA Parliament, and she retired in May 2022.

It was gathered that funeral prayer would be held for her at the National Mosque in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, today.

The late Bello was known to have worked alongside veterans like Cyril Stober, Eugenia Abu, among others.

She was most recognized for her critical role as one of the top newsreaders on NTA Network News at 9 PM in the 1990s and early 20s.

In a statement, the family broke the devastating news, saying, “Innalilahi wa inna Alaihin Rajiun. May Allah forgive Hajia Aishat Bello Mustapha, our mother. You really are a very kind person, Mama, indeed, you are a very kind-hearted person. We will miss you and hope you are enjoying Rahma.”

The funeral is scheduled to take place at the central mosque in Abuja at 1 pm on Monday, 11th December 2023. May her soul rest in peace.
