Nsukka professionals urge IG to probe Enugu LP candidate’s murder

The Nsukka Professionals Association (NPA), Enugu State, has urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, and heads of other security agencies to hasten investigation to unravel the identifies of those behind the murder of the Labour Party (LP) senatorial candidate, Mr Oyibo Chukwu.

Chukwu was murdered a day before the February 25, presidential and National Assembly elections in Enugu.

The President of NPA, Mr Charles Nwodo, at a press briefing in Lagos, expressed concerns that no arrest had been made.

The association also raised alarm over plans by some political thugs to cause violence and rig the March 18, governorship and Houses of Assembly elections, especially in Enugu East Senatorial District.

Mr Chukwu said, “We want to remind the GOC of 82 Division, Enugu State, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja; the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ahmed Ammani; Director of State Security Service (SSS), Mr Ayo Adesina; and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu, to remember their oath of office and the standard operating procedures approved for the 2023 elections by their respective agencies.”
