The National Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP) in Plateau State has commenced a quarterly capacity building training for peace stakeholders including market women, community and youth leaders, media representatives as well as security agents and members of the civil society organisations.
Daily Trust reports that the one day capacity building training which commenced in January have so far equipped 75 stakeholders, who are also members of the monthly Peace Architecture Dialogue (PAD) and State Conflict Management Alliance, meetings that discusses security challenges in the state and ways of solving them.
The Deputy Regional Manager for NSRP in Plateau State, Gad Shamaki said through the training, team work and networking are strengthened between non state actors and government, adding that “we may not be part of the security Council meeting but issues discussed during our meetings are sent to the government because this is a platform where some members of the Security Council meeting are part of.”
