NSF 2024: Olopade, Falilat Ogunkoya named in 16-man LOC

Ahead of the 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) to be held in Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday unveiled a 16-man Local Organizing Committee (LOC) to be chaired by Bukola Olopade, a former Commissioner of sports in the state.

Unveiling the 16-man local organizing committee in Abeokuta, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, also listed Tilewa Adebayo, a sports enthusiast, as co-chairman.

Another prominent member of the Committee is Chief (Mrs) Falilat Ogunkoya-Omotayo (MON) Nigeria’s former queen of the tracks. Others are Secretary-General of the LOC for the NSF Edo 2020, Dr Emmanuel Igbinosa, Dr Kweku Tandoh, Professor Oluwaseun Olanrewaju Omotayo, Hon. Dare Alebiosu; Mr. Kunle Solaja, Olusegun Oyende, Mr Olatunji Onatolu, Mrs. Modele Sharafa Yussuf,  Demola Are, Abiodun Jubril Elegbede and Ola Opedimeji Adisa.

Talabi said that the LOC has been mandated to set up sub-committees, made up of various stakeholders to ensure a hitch-free exercise as well as deliver a sports festival that will be second to none in the country.

It will be recalled that in May, the state signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development to host the biennial games.

During the signing ceremony, Governor Abiodun had told the then Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare, that Ogun State, was ready to host a world-class festival in 2024, asserting that the State has capable hands and sponsors to support the sports festival.
