The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Yobe State Command, has warned independent marketers to shun hoarding and diversion of petroleum product meant for Yobe State.
The State Commandant, NSCDC, Ayinla Taiye Olowo, who gave this warning during an interview with Daily Trust, on Thursday in Damaturu, said the errant marketers would be arrested and dealt with according to law.
He said cases of hoarding and diversion is responsible for fuel scarcity, thereby inflicting untold hardship on people in the state.
"We embarked on stop and search of Petroleum Tankers to checkmate the fuel diversion. Our special Armed Squad personnel have been deployed across the State for this Task.
"For those hoarding the product to sale to black marketers, and other people involved in black marketeering are warned in their own interest to stop or face the full wrath of the law" he warned.
Olowo also noted that the Command is aware of some filling stations selling the product far above official rate at night, "Henceforth, our men would keep an eye to fishout these errant marketers for appropriate action".
He called on people in the state to report any wrongdoing from filling stations to the Command, while assuring their commitment to end the ill
