The Commandant General of the Corp, Dr. Ade Abolurin, made this known at the fourth stakeholders forum between the NSCDC and private guard companies (PGC) held yesterday in Abuja.

He said the provision of the trained security dogs became imperative considering the level of sophisticated criminal activities globally, saying the dogs are to serve in crime detection, sniffing and rescue operations in disaster situations.

Speaking on the revenue the Civil Defence generated for government, Abolurin, said the Corps makes a total of N316, 753,410.00” from the time he resumed duty as the CG of the Corps in 2005.

NSCDC, he said has also put in motion plans to computerize the operations of the Private Guard Companies and Departments for the effectiveness of their activities.

He therefore called for the PGC not to regard themselves as profit making companies but an opportunity to give their quota in providing a conducive atmosphere in terms of security in the country.
