The Kogi State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sealed off Bomac Filling Station on Okene-Lokoja Highway and arrested two officials for selling adulterated petrol.

The state NSCDC commandant, Suleiman Mafara, who disclosed this in Lokoja, said six people who bought the fuel early Wednesday lodged complaints about the damage done to their vehicles.

He said it was confirmed after a critical examination by the experts that the petrol was adulterated with water.

The arrested pump attendant said he monitored the discharge of the product into the tank yesterday and it was satisfied okay.

“I was surprised when these six customers accused me of selling adulterated petrol to them, and reported me to the men of NSCDC which made them arrest me,” he said.

One of the buyers, Usman Jibrin, said the engine of his car refused to work immediately after the pump attendant dispensed the petrol into his tank.

He said others who bought the fuel from the same station after him also suffered the same fate, “prompting us to report the matter to the appropriate authority, which led to his arrest.”
