NSCDC parades 3 vandals in Edo

The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has paraded three suspects over alleged cable vandalism.

The suspects were alleged to have been arrested while attempting to steal armoured cables in Benin City.

The suspects, Friday Alex, Favour Orji and Daniel Biaru, were caught impersonating personnel of the local security network at about 2am.

Parading the suspects, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Efosa Ogbebor, said the suspects were arrested on Uselu-Lagos road on September 8, in collaboration with personnel of the Edo Security Network.

He explained that the suspects, during interrogation, confessed to have vandalised and stolen about 100ft of cable the previous week.

Speaking with journalists, Friday Alex attributed their actions to hunger and non-payment by their private security employer.

He said, “Hunger led me to this. We have not been eating for some days. I begged for leniency, promising not to do it again.”
