NSCDC nabs 6 cable thieves in Yobe

Men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Yobe State have arrested six suspected power cable thieves. The state’s Commandant of NSCDC, Adamu Idris Zakari, who disclosed this while parading the suspects in Dama-turu, said the operatives apprehended the suspects for stealing armoured cables worth N1.2m behind the Waziri Ibrahim Housing Estate.

He further said investigation further identified three other suspects who were directly connected to the theft. He noted that the suspects confessed that they had vandalised several transformers in Damaturu metropolis, nota-ble among them the ones at the federal polytechnic and at the Ali Marami Extension.

Similarly, he said that the residents of Nayi Nawa Tsallake area of Damaturu also apprehended one Umar Mus-tapha (34) of Lawanti Ward while vandalising a substation and handed him over to the corps.
