NSCDC deploys 1,450 in Niger

The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned the 1,450 of its personnel deployed to assist the police in providing security coverage for the forthcoming presidential and National Assembly elections, as well Houses of Assembly and governorship elections, against intimidating voters.

The command’s spokesman, Nasir D. Abdullahi, in a statement, said the Commandant of the corps in the state, Ahmed Mohammed Dandare, gave the warning while addressing the officers and men before they were handed over to the Commissioner of Police (CP) for onward posting across the state.

He said the officers were to work with other security agencies to achieve hitch-free elections, protect lives and property, as well as provide adequate protection of national assets and infrastructure.
