The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have won the maiden edition of the Security and Safety Cup organised by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Ogun State.

In the final match played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, NSCDC defeated the Nigeria Police Force 1-0.

The NSCDC, Nigeria Police Force, Amotekun, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, (TRACE), Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Ogun State Fire Service, National Community Ethics and Value Environmental Corps (NCEVEC), Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and Ogun State Parking Management Scheme (OGSPMS) featured in the tournament tagged “1st Ogun State SWAN Security and Safety Cup.”

The Most Valuable Player of the tournament went to Aramide Owolabi of NSCDC, while Ayomide Fisayo won the golden boot award after scoring five goals.

After conceding only three goals, Kadejo Adekanmbi of the Nigeria Police was voted Best Goalkeeper of the tournament just as the Fair play award went to Amotekun Corps.

Speaking at the finals, Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, lauded the initiative by the Sports writers.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Dr. Kehinde Oludare, the governor said the tourney would further boost the synergy among security agencies in the state.
