NSCDC arrests NITEL mast vandal in Niger

Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Niger State (NSCDC) have intercepted a truck loaded with scraps suspected to be form a mast belonging to the defunct NITEL and other items.

The command’s spokesman, Nasir Abdullahi, said a 55-year-old man, Gali Abdullahi, a native of Gezawa LGA of Kano State, and the driver of the truck were arrested on Sunday on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway while conveying the materials from Asokoro, Abuja, to Kano.

He said one of the suspects, Abdullahi, admitted to have decommissioned a mast belonging to the defunct NITEL at Asokoro, Abuja, on the order of his master, one A. A. Kadir, a Kano-based businessman who he said claimed to have bought the mast from the company through their agent, one Tirmizi.
