The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command has arrested five suspects for banditry at the Gidan Igwe area in the Sokoto metropolis.

They are Abdullahi Dan-Hussaini, Salisu Sani, Bala Umar, Chedi Aliyu and Bashiru Bello.

Parading the suspects on Monday, the state NSCDC Commandant, Muhammad Dada, told newsmen that the suspects were arrested through their lead, Dan-Hussaini.

“They had been kidnaping people for ransom. They have so far collected N5.5 million before nemesis caught up with them,” he said

He described their arrest as a big success, saying the group might have links to many attacks in the state’s metropolis.

Meanwhile, six others comprised of four males and two females were also paraded for allegedly attacking an NSCDC outpost.

Dada appealed to the public to support security agencies with vital information that would assist in curbing security challenges across the state.
