NSCDC arrests 4 suspected kidnappers after collecting N6.2 million ransom

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended four suspected kidnappers believed to be terrorising residents of Owo in Ondo State.  The suspects were nabbed at Abusoro camp in Ipele forest reserve in Owo LGA of the state. 

NSCDC gives the names of the suspects as Isiaku Jubril (37), Nura Idris (30), Mohammed Sulieman (50) and Dairu Abdullahi (25). 

Daniel Aidamenbor, the State Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, who disclosed this on Thursday, said the suspects were apprehended by a combined team of crack squad from the command.

Mr Aidamenbor explained that one of the suspects, Dairu, from Kogi State, was arrested at Eti Ose river forest after a heavy gun duel with the operatives of the corps. “He (Dairu) was identified as one of the kidnappers who collected ransom of N6.2 million,” he said.

According to him, the three remaining suspected kidnappers were arrested when attempting to kidnap their victim at the Ipele forest reserve.

Mr Aidamenbor added that the corps also arrested one Jim Uyobon, 30, who was into cultivation of marijuana in the forest and served as an informant to the suspected kidnappers. 

He listed exhibits recovered from the suspects to include two local guns, three cutlasses, four mobile phones, 1 mobile card, four voter’s cards, 1 ATM card, 1 TVS motorcycle, several bullet pallets, and one NYSC uniform.

  “After our investigation, the suspects will be prosecuted in court while the narcotic suspect will be handed over to NDLEA,” the NSCDC spokesman said.
