Men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti State have arrested a man, Ojo Abere, over alleged human trafficking and prostitution and handed him over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
The suspect was said to have sold two ladies, including a minor, to be trafficked to Mali for prostitution.
While parading the suspect, the Head of NAPTIP in Ekiti State, Mr Oladimeji Samson, noted that human trafficking had become rampant in the state; which said must be curtailed by all means.
He also disclosed that 25 suspects were arrested between January and September, with 23 victims rescued in the state.
Explaining her ordeal, one of the rescued victims, Oluwatosin Apata, said she was sold to an agent by one Abefe who lured her into prostitution, saying she spent four months in Bamako, Mali, before she was rescued.
