The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced a groundbreaking partnership with the globally renowned International Management Group (IMG) to transform Nigerian football and its leagues.
Therefore, NSC Chairman, Malam Shehu Dikko has enlisted IMG’s world-class expertise to craft a comprehensive vision that aims to enhance the sport at every level – from grassroots initiatives to the elite leagues.
“Football is not just a sport; it’s a passion that unites us all,” said Dikko. “With IMG’s unparalleled experience and the support of our dedicated stakeholders, we are ready to kick off a thrilling transformation that will showcase the incredible talent within our borders and captivate audiences worldwide.”
In a related development, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has pledged to work closely with stakeholders in the sports sector to develop and commercialise the game of football in Nigeria.

The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, made the commitment while receiving a delegation from the NSC, the International Management Group (IMG) and AfroSport Network at the NNPC Towers on Thursday.
“NNPC will be a prime partner in the journey to bring back value to our football, to reshape it, re-engineer it and bring happiness to our people”, Kyari stated.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the NSC, Shehu Dikko, said football was fundamental to the economies of the best footballing countries in the world, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for immediate action to revamp the game.
The NSC chairman said the multiplier effects of football were enormous and could facilitate the revamp of related industries across the value chain.
