The agency, under its Executive Secretary Dr Muhammad Ali Pate, deemed it necessary to support The Kick Polio Out of Nigeria programme and had chosen Kano, being with a high record of the disease in the country. The campaign, according to Abubakar Gotomo of Direct Communications, would cover some selected towns and communities with high risk in Ungogo, Rogo, Kumbotso, Dawakin Kudu and Gwale Local Governments in the state.

At one of the communities called Unguwar Bello, in Gwale Local Government, a slide film was shown to the public while questions followed in which some responded to the film, seeking more of such enlightenment in the area as people needed more information on the disease.

Ahmad Muntari was among those who watched the film which included a documentary and a drama aimed at harmonizing entertainment with facts and figures. He said he was impressed with what he saw and would pass the message to other people.

The ward head Malam Sanusi Lukman said the film would prove to those in denial of the vaccine the facts, and to further eliminate fear as it was what deprived the suspecting public from cooperating. He said the involvement of religious leaders and other influential members of the public would help in resolving the issue.

He said there was also the need for the local and state governments to keep supporting them as the  people close to the community they  faced hardship when interacting with the people especially on health related issues and general enlightenment.
