Enyimba FC have moved to 6th place after securing a 1-1 draw with visiting MFM FC in the Match Day 14 of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League on Saturday.

The Aba Warriors who have had a mixed season so far got a dream start when Victor Mbaoma opened the scoring in the 7th minute.

It was a smooth run of play as Emeka Obioma received a long pass from goalkeeper Ojo, dribbled his way to make a through pass to Mbaoma who finished superbly.

However, their early goal was cut short five minutes later when Chukwudi Ekeocha ran onto a through ball and put the ball between Ojo’s legs to level the score for MFM.

Stunned by the goal, the home side had another chance to score in the 20th minute through Obioma but the woodwork stood in his way.

Enyimba continued to press for another but yet again, Mbaoma’s header crashed against the woodwork in the 30th minute and a minute later, Obioma rounded goalkeeper Isaac but Onyekachi Ifeanyi was on hand to clear the ball out of play to keep the scoreline 1-1 going into the half time.

At the restart of the second half, in the 56th minute, Enyimba through Ekene Awazie missed a sitter as he hits the ball over the bar to the astonishment of the bench.

Seeking their seventh league win, Enyimba had another chance in the 70th minute but the heroics of MFM goalkeeper, Isaac who saved a flying header from Mbaoma.

Isaac was again called into action in the dying minute of the game as he punched away to safety a goal-bound header from Godwin Emmanuel as the game ended 1-1 in Aba.

Meanwhile, action continues today when Akwa United play host to sister club, Dakkada FC while Plateau United go away to play against Gombe United.

Katsina United will welcome Heartland FC while Wikki Tourists will be guests to Shooting Stars in Ibadan. The last game for today will see Sunshine Stars tackle Kwara United in Akure.
