Plateau United are yet to secure their first win of the 2020/21 Nigerian Professional Football League following a 0-0 draw with Wikki Tourists on Monday.
The Jos-based side whose players have been placed on half-salary as ‘punishment’ for their recent poor performances were unable to secure the much-needed win at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

It will be recalled that the 2017 champions were roundly defeated 2-0 at home by Kwara United in Match Day 1 of the season.
The hosts, Wikki Tourists who are also yet to win a game after losing 2-1 to table toppers, Nasarawa United were the better side in the game as they tried to earn their own first win.
In the 37th minute, Plateau Utd had the first real chance as Jesse Akila’s weak attempt at goal was easily claimed by Wikki’s goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabili. Three minutes later, the home side also had its chance but the alertness of Plateau’s defender, Gabriel Wassa denied Idris Mohammed Guda from putting the home team in front.
At the restart of the second half, Wikki had another chance in the 70th minute but Arinze Madu’s effort was deflected for a corner while in the 74th minute, Nwabali was called to action again as he denied Plateau’s Oche Ochowechi from giving his side the lead.
The best chance of the game fell to Akila who was through on goal in the 83rd minute but the ball hit the woodwork to the anguish of the players and technical bench as the game ended 0-0.
The Abdu Maikaba led side have now gone six games unbeaten on their travels in the league while failing to score in two consecutive NPFL matches for the first time since January 2020.
With this result, Wikki Tourists is 16th on the table with one point from two games while Plateau Utd is 18th with one point from two games as well.
Meanwhile, the last rounds of the Match Day 2 fixtures will be on Wednesday between Kwara United and Enyimba of Aba.
