NPFL: Rivers Utd end Enyimba’s winning streak

Rivers United have ended Enyimba’s winning streak with a hard fought 1-0 victory at the Enyimba International stadium in the match day 3 of the Nigeria Professional Football League season yesterday.

The People’s Elephant had secured five wins in five games in all competitions this season under manager, Finidi George before this clash but that streak ended in the 51st minute with the only goal of the game coming from Rafiu Kayode Isahq.

In the same vein, defending champions, Akwa United have made it three wins from three games after defeating visiting Gombe United in Uyo while Lobi Stars condemned Shooting Stars to a 2-1 loss in Makurdi.

In Akure, the search for the first win of the season continues for Sunshine Stars as they played out a barren draw with Enugu Rangers while Kwara United ensured Wikki Tourists left Ilorin empty-handed after securing a slim 1-0 victory.

Plateau United have now recorded their second league loss following a 1-0 loss to MFM in Lagos while Heartland secured their first league victory after defeating visiting Dakkada FC 1-0 in Owerri.

Remo Stars were unable to make it three wins after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Nasarawa United.

Meanwhile, action continues today when Katsina United welcomes Kano Pillars while Abia Warriors will be guests to Niger Tornadoes.

Currently, Remo Stars top the table with 7 points closely followed by Akwa United and Rivers United on the same points.
