Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, heavyweights, Rivers United and Lobi Stars of Makurdi will slug it out in the opening match of this year’s Governor N Wike Cup which kicks-off Friday in Port-Harcourt.
The draws for the pre-season tourney held Thursday at the conference room of the Rivers State Ministry of Sports with members of the organising committee, representatives of clubs and sports journalists in attendance.

The Chairman of the organising committee Bashir Badawiy promised a hitch-free competition to be appreciated by all football stakeholders.
He commended all the participating clubs for their commitment and determination to put their respective teams in top shape for the upcoming season.
Member of the organising committee in charge of Technical, Dennis Dima said the draws were made taking a lot of parameters into consideration.
According to the draws, Group A has hosts Rivers United, Lobi Stars, Akwa United, Cynosure and Ottasolo FC.
In Group B are Abia Warriors, MFM, Bayelsa United, Goddosky FC and Udala FC.
Plateau United, Kwara United, Nasarawa FC and Niger Tornadoes will fight for honours in Group C.
