Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs, Enugu Rangers and Enyimba have been slammed with a cumulative fine of N15m for the negative roles they played in the disruption of the week 35 match played last Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.

The title-deciding match which attracted a capacity crowd was abandoned by Enyimba in the second half added time following a late penalty that was awarded to the hosts by the referee.

The decision which didn’t go down well with the visitors led to a pitch invasion by fans of both clubs bringing proceedings to an abrupt end.

Consequently, in a summary jurisdiction, the NPL has fined Enyimba a whopping N10m for violations of the League’s Frameworks and rules which include failure to ensure proper conduct of their players, and officials and disruption of the live broadcast of the match.

A breakdown of the imposed fine shows that N1m is for Enyimba’s failure to ensure the proper conduct their team, N5m for disruption of a live broadcast, N1m for throwing of an object onto the field of play, N1m for fans’ encroachment onto the field of play and N2m for causing the disruption and discontinuation of the match.

Meanwhile, even as the NPFL awarded three points and three goals to Enugu Rangers, the ‘Flying Antelopes’ have also been fined N5m for various breaches of the Frameworks and Rules of the NPFL.

However, within 46 hours, both clubs are to either submit to the summary jurisdiction and the sanctions or elect to be dealt with by a disciplinary panel.
