The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a stern warning to clubs about the disruption of matches.
League officials announced that strict penalties will be imposed on any club that causes disturbances during games.
In a statement, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi emphasized that clubs must ensure adequate security at their home matches. He highlighted that it is the responsibility of home teams to guarantee the safety of visiting players, officials, and fans throughout the event.
“The home clubs shoulder the burden of ensuring the security of the visiting players, officials, and their fans, prior, during, and after their home matches.”
He further warned that any disruptions, security breaches, or lapses would lead to appropriate sanctions.
“Any team that allow disruptions, breaches, or security lapses under any guise or circumstances will face appropriate sanctions as stipulated in the NPFL rules,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the NPFL have announced a new date for the rescheduled matchday 3 fixture involving Enyimba and Akwa United.
The game which was initially billed to take place on Sunday, September 22 will now be played on Wednesday, October 2nd.
The encounter will be played at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba in a letter to the affected clubs.
The game was moved due to Enyimba’s CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round reverse leg tie against Etoile Filante on Saturday.
The match will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. Enyimba played a goalless draw with the Burkina Faso side in Mali last Friday.
