The National Population Commission (NPC) has launched a situation room in preparation for the 2023 census.
Speaking at the launch in Abuja Wednesday, Chairman of NPC, Nasir Isa Kwarra, said the 2023 census will help to complement the effort to revive Nigeria’s economy with data to make critical economic decisions.

Kwarra stated that the census also sought to serve in determining how the government’s decision was made on budgetary allocation.
He added that to ensure a reliable generation of data for the exercise, it would incorporate the use of technology.
He said, “We will leave no stone unturned to make sure that all corresponding technical equipment meet the required standards for effective delivery of the 2023 census goal, which is a credible, reliable and acceptable Population and Housing Census.
“The launching of the 2023 census situation room is a step in that direction because it will afford the commission the opportunity to interact and educate the populace, seeking information concerning the 2023 census, receive feedback and correct misconceptions regarding the census methodology, processes and procedures.
‘We are convinced that the census Situation room will provide a veritable interaction ground towards ensuring credibility and acceptability of the next census,” he noted.
