The Director General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Alhaji Kashim Akor, has identified the civil service as a critical instrument for the actualisation of the change agenda of the present administration.
He said that the civil service could help reposition the various sectors of the country by developing a productivity mindset and culture at all times.
Akor stated this at a one-day productivity sensitisation lecture organised by the National Productivity Centre for grade level 07 – 12 staff of the Federal Character Commission at the corporate headquarters of the commission in Abuja.
The DG said the lecture was to create productivity awareness and enhance civil servants’ capacities for efficient service delivery.
He decried poor attitude of workers to work. “The civil service must improve its productivity in order to achieve growth and vitalise the Nigerian economy against the backdrop of accelerating globalisation and international competitiveness, exponential increase in the unemployment rate and the dwindling oil revenues,” he said.
