NPC, foundation canvass policy for productivity in civil service

The management of the National Productivity Centre and AIG-Imokhuede Foundation, on Thursday canvassed for a policy that will strengthen capacities for effective policy design and implementation for enhancing economic growth and public sector service delivery.

These were parts of the outcome of a meeting between the Director General of the National Productivity Centre, Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi, and representatives from the AIG-Imokhuede Foundation, according to a statement by NPC head of media, Amezhi Apia.

Speaking during the visit, NPC DG said the meeting aimed at elevating the managerial and operational competencies of Nigerian civil servants at the sub-national level through the utilisation of innovative productivity improvement tools and techniques.

He said the strategic initiative is designed to bolster labour productivity in Nigeria through public sector leadership development programmes.

He also noted that the partnership would strengthen capacities for effective policy design and implementation, with a focus on enhancing economic growth and public sector service delivery. 

Daily Trust reports that the team from the AIG-Imokhuede Foundation was led by the Director of Programmes, Ms Chioma Njoku.

Dan’Agundi expressed optimism that the versatile productivity and management consultants in the centre, located in twenty states across Nigeria, would be of great asset in the implementation of the programme.

“I strongly believe that the collaboration between the National Productivity Centre and AIG Imoukhuede Foundation will greatly impact the civil servants in the selected states, leading to improved productivity growth in these chosen states.

“I will give you all the necessary support to ensure that this collaboration yields a fruitful result, to the growth and development of Nigeria at large.

“I have carefully gone through the memorandum of understanding approved by the former Director-General and have agreed to commit to the MOU,” he said.

On her part, the AIG-Imokhuede Foundation team leader explained the activities and programmes of the foundation, including their various capacity-building programmes.
