About 130 residents of Makarfi Local Government Area in Kaduna State have received empowerment tools after undergoing vocational training organised by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at the weekend.
Daily Trust reports that the project was part of the authority’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Startup kits presented to the beneficiaries included sewing machines, water pumping machines as well as grinding machines.
The Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Hadiza Bala, who was represented by Alhaji Aliyu Garba, urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items presented to them.
The Dean, Post Graduate School, Kaduna State University (KASU), Professor Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango, advised the beneficiaries to put to judicious use the items presented to them.
“Do not be tempted to sell off the items given to you at give-away prices. Use them to earn a living that would be beneficial to your families and the larger society,” he admonished.
