The police in Imo State have arrested a notorious kidnapping leader, Aralu Chukwudi Charis, from Otolo in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State.
Henry Okoye, the police spokesman in Imo State, said in a statement Monday that the arrest followed the suspect’s alleged involvement in numerous kidnapping and armed robbery activities within the state.
Okoye said the suspect was arrested after a well-coordinated operation by the anti-kidnapping unit of the Imo State Police Command under the leadership of CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, based on credible intelligence.
He said Aralu was captured at his hideout in Mgbidi, Oru East LGA of Imo State, during a raid last weekend.

The police recovered a snatched Toyota Camry, 2005 model, with registration number MUS 509 DS Lagos during the search of his hideout, he said.
Okoye stated that Aralu confessed to being the leader of a criminal syndicate responsible for various criminal activities in Imo State.
He also provided valuable information that could aid in apprehending other members of his syndicate, Okoye added.
