Speaking when the Minister of Information and Communication, Professor Dora Akunyili, met with Muslim leaders in the country under the auspices of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), in Kaduna in continuation of her re-branding campaigns, he said the country cannot develop in this present situation.

“We can never develop in this present situation. Nothing in Nigeria is working – no light, no water, no good roads, our security situation is poor and the worst of it all, no food. All what we are experiencing in the country is a result of corruption and injustice. Crimes everywhere, kidnapping and all forms of criminal acts are on the increase. How do we grow in this situation,” he queried.

He urged leaders of the country to be prepared to account hereafter for all their deeds including the money they acquired through corruption.

On how to move the country forward, the Sultan said the re-branding project must start from the heart and that for it to succeed, Nigerians needs to go back to Almighty God.

“We should stop crying that American President, Barack Obama, did not come here. We should all work together and build a new Nigeria and see what will happen,’’ he stated.

Earlier in her address, Professor Dora Akunyili had said that no society develops on the strength of government alone and called for altitudinal change among the citizenry.

“We hope that in the months ahead, we shall all see the virtue in believing in ourselves and our nation. And the Nigerian people, not the government, will be the ultimate winner,’’ she said.
