Northern Youth Groups, under the aegis of Arewa Consultative Youth Movement and Arewa Youth Assembly, have advised the federal government to collaborate with governors of the Northern states to come up with a modern livestock development policy that will provide a lasting solution to the herders/farmers crises in the country.
The group’s spokesman, Malam Isiaku Umar Abdulhameed, said in Kaduna that such a policy will also transform the age-long open grazing tradition and provide additional economic value for pastoral communities.
Abdulhameed also urged Nigerian youths to be wary of foreign elements who are working tirelessly to ensure Nigeria’s disintegration which they predicted but failed before the 2015 general elections.
“Our growing population, and our national resources, knowledge and technological prospects are a threat to their market in Africa. If they cannot sustain us as a consumer nation, they will want us to break up and even if we disintegrate, lose cohesion and our spirit of unity, they will not let us enjoy peace,” they said.
The group further called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency do everything possible to tackle increasing security in the nation.
