Islamic Clerics from the Northern region under the aegis of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, on Thursday, met the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa behind closed over the recent accidental bombing in the Tundun Biri area of Kaduna State.

Daily Trust had reported how over 100 innocent citizens were killed in the accidental airstrikes carried out by the Nigerian Army where dozens were also left injured.

Speaking when the clerics led by Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar visited him at Defence Headquarters, Abuja, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Musa vowed that the military had already swung into action and it would get to the root of the matter.

“We will do everything possible to get to the bottom and ensure it happens no more,” the Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, who briefed journalists after the closed-door meeting quoted the CDS to have said.

The military Chief assured the council of “undaunting commitment” to ensuring peace in the country, adding that the recent incident was unfortunate.

He also pledged to sincerely find a lasting solution to avoid future occurrences despite that there are few security challenges in the country, particularly in the North West.

In his reaction, Dr Bashir called on leaders to avoid not living an affluence lifestyle while the masses live in abject poverty.
