The association stated this in a communique issued after its 7th Annual General Meeting in Kano.

The communique, signed by NBMOA Acting Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, said some advert agencies engaged in sharp practices by diverting adverts meant for the North to the South.

It, therefore, encouraged stakeholders to set up advert-buying agencies to reduce monopoly and guarantee our equal access to the market.

The association urged members to unite and work for the promotion and growth of the northern broadcast industry, promote professionalism, programme exchange, standardisation and content development.

It backed the call by Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for governments at all levels to support the growth of the broadcast media in the North through soft loans, grants and other forms of patronage.

The association also resolved to use its platforms and reach to engage in the campaign against drug abuse, intensify the campaign to educate the North on the need to support efforts to end insecurity and to promote community ownership of security management.
