North Korea launches missile from submarine, South Korea says

North Korea fired what is believed to be a submarine-launched ballistic missile off the east coast of the Korean peninsula on Saturday, according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The missile was fired at 6:30 p.m. local time (5:30 a.m. ET), South Korean officials said.
North Korea, a reclusive nation that remains a Communist dictatorship, has been pursuing a missile program since the 1960s, usually to the consternation of the international community.
Ballistic missiles are missiles fired in an arc toward their targets. North Korea has declared that it has nuclear weapons.
