The Vice chairman, Tijjani Tumsah has expressed the of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to alleviate the suffering of the people of the North East. He made this statement when delegates from the North-East Advocacy Group, a bipartisan organisation visited the PCNI at its office in Abuja. While presenting the group with the Buhari Plan – a roadmap for the development of the North East, Mr. Tumsah expressed his delight at the groups’ efforts to foster unity and development among the citizens of the region. He said that PCNI was established with the mandate of coordinating all interventions in the North-East to avert any wastage arising from duplication of efforts and is looking forward to collaborating with the group and any organisation for the progress of the region.
The Chairman of the North-East Advocacy Group, Hon. Muhammed Kumalia appreciated PCNI’s efforts in rebuilding the North East. He said that the group’s aim is to brief the PCNI on the objectives of the group which is for social and economic development of the region. He stated further that the North East is endowed with the potential to contribute to the economic development of the nation but has suffers setbacks such as the high rates of maternal mortality and illiteracy as well as inadequate infrastructure. He added that the group is set to sensitise and promote unity in the North-East. He thanked the Buhari’s administration and PCNI for their commitment to the Mambillla power project and pleaded for its timely funding and execution. Another member of the group, Hon. Adamu Modibo informed the PCNI of the group’s proposed summit where all notable citizens of the region will brainstorm and develop a document that will speak to its challenges as expressed in the Buhari Plan for quick intervention.
