Non-indigenes desert polling units in Kaduna

Unlike what was experienced during the presidential and national assembly elections two weeks ago where voters including men, women, young and old trooped out to cast their votes , some polling units in Kaduna witnessed very poor turnout in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections.
Our reporter who went round polling units in Ungwar Pama, Sabon Tasha and Ungwar Television among others all located in Chikun Local Government Area of the state, observed that most of the few people that came out for accreditation are indigenes while the non-indigenes  refused to venture out .

Discussions among individuals at various polling units revealed that many people did not come out this time around to perform their civic responsibility, because they were disappointed with the result of the presidential election, which apparently was not in their favour.

“The non-indigenes have lost confidence in the process because they felt their votes in the presidential election did not make any difference, as their candidate lost. In spite of the encouragement I gave to my wife to come out and vote, she refused, saying her vote will not stop whoever is going to win from winning,” one of the voters, Mr Vincent Akin said.
