The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has recognised and granted approval to Nigeria Teqball Federation, NIGTEQ to operate in the country.
The approval was granted Thursday during a virtual Annual General Meeting, AGM, of the NOC.

In a nine-point communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the NOC also granted approval to two other federations, Bobsled and Skeleton Federation of Nigeria and Nigeria Curling Federation.
The sports federations includes; Nigeria Teqball Federation, Bobsled and Skeleton Federation of Nigeria and Nigeria Curling Federation.
Also the AGM unanimously approved the NOC president Activities Report and finance and audit reports for the year 2019 while acknowledging the collaborative support and leadership role of President Muhammadu Buhari towards the Olympic movement.
“The NOC is happy that the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has been collaborating effectively with the Nigeria Olympic Committee, to ensure that all loose ends are tied together, in preparing our delegation for the Tokyo Olympic Games”.
“Although, we have qualified athletes in some key sports, we strive to pick up qualification places in Athletics Relays, Badminton, Weightlifting and more in Wrestling as soon as the qualification window is reopened,” the communiqué stated.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of FCT Football Association and Vice-president of Teqball Federation, Adam Mouktar Mohammed has expressed happiness with the approval for the new sport.
He said “It is a welcome development. All over the world, the game of Teqball is spreading fast like wildfire and we can’t be left out.
“It is a highly technical game that is visible in the camps of all the leading clubs in Europe. All the star footballers that you can think of are identifying with Teqball,” he said.
Teqball is a ball sport that is played on a curved table, combining elements of football and table tennis.
Back and forth, the players hit a football with any part of the body except arms and hands.
Teqball can be played between two players as a singles game, or between four players as a doubles game.
