Bauchi State government has said there was still no outbreak of Cerebro Spinal Meningitis (CSM) in the state.

The State Commissioner of Health, Halima Mukaddas debunked the rumours about the alleged outbreak of the disease during an interview with journalists in her office on Tuesday.

She said that the state had not recorded any case of meningitis as it was being insinuated.

Mukaddas however, admitted that suspected cases of meningitis were reported in two local government areas of the state because the victims displayed symptoms like fever and stiffness of the neck.

"When we heard of the development, we sent our experts who conducted test on the victims and from our investigation, the result turned out negative, meaning there is no case of meningitis in the state" she said.

The Commissioner said that the government had commenced sensitization campaigns in all the local government areas of the state to educate people on preventive measures and how to detect the symptoms.

She added that the state had already started a vaccination exercise against Meningitis in most of the state primary care centres.
