No N/Delta states under pervasive insecurity — Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyeson Wike says unlike other states of the federation, none of the states in Niger Delta is currently under pervasive insecurity or violence.

According to him, Rivers State, in particular, is being effectively government with law and order in place, making the state largely peaceful.

Wike noted that governors, though called chief security officers, are constrained constitutionally in the administration of the security architecture of their respective states.

He spoke in Port Harcourt yesterday during a forum of the European Union Heads of Missions in Abuja in a presentation titled: “Understanding the Current Political and Security Situation in Rivers State in Particular and Niger Delta Region in General.

“This is also true with the other Niger Delta States as none is under a state of pervasive insecurity or violence as we have in some other parts of the country”.
