Amidst efforts to rebuild and reposition the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the chairman of its caretaker committee, Dr. Sokonte Davies has said there is no contest about the leadership of the party in the state.
Davies, who spoke exclusively with our reporter in Port Harcourt, said the leader of the party in the state is the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
Davies, a two-time member of the House of Representatives and immediate past executive director of Operations of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), also said there are no factions in the leadership structure of the party in the state, adding that if there was any, there would have been two or three leaders of the party in the state.
“I don’t think there are factions in the leadership of APC in Rivers State. If there were factions, there would have been two or three leaders. But everybody identifies with the fact that Amaechi is the leader of the party in the state,” he said.
