The newly posted commissioner of police for Kano state, Habu A. Sani has reiterated his commitment to building on the legacies of his immediate predecessor, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu to rid the state of the remnants of criminal elements, stressing that there is no hiding place for criminally minded persons in the state.

Sani who assumed office as the state’s commissioner of police less than a week ago said he is re-strategising to re-activate all crime prevention mechanisms of the command with a view to deal with the impending menace of Daba and other forms of organized crime bedeviling the state.

He stated this in his maiden press briefing on Monday at the officers’ mess of the command headquarters.

He said, “I assumed duty on the 20th November, 2019 as the 41st commissioner of police of Kano state command and having received briefs from the departmental heads, the security situation of the state was carefully analysed and critically studied. Each and every area in the state was demographically examined and crime mapped. An action plan has been designed and will be implemented in the fight against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.”

He said he had directed all head of departments, Divisional police officers (DPOs), Tactical Commanders and other supervisory officers and personnel of the command to ensure professionalism in their work with utmost respect to human rights of the citizenry.

Revealing his work plan for addressing drug abuse, kidnapping and emerging trend of missing children, the C P emphasised that, “Drug abuse is one of the disturbing trends that has a replicate effect in the commission of crime, most of those who have indulged themselves into drugs would end up committing other forms of crime, so we will follow and apply all the necessary communications intelligence to see that we nip it to the bud.

He expressed commitment to seeing to an end to substance and drug abuse among youth and women in the state saying that the command would soon launch an onslaught on the manufacturers and dealers of illicit drugs.

He disclosed that within his 24 hours of arrival in the command some quantum of illicit drugs were recovered and suspects arrested.
He appealed to the people of Kano to be law abiding and report any issue of security concern to the police for prompt and appropriate action.
