The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, has said that his intention to contest for the governorship in Oyo State in 2019 is still “well and alive”.
He stated this on the sideline of the Zakat distribution ceremony organized by Jaiz Foundation in Abuja.
“The ambition is well and alive,” the minister said, noting that his experience as a former legislator, two-time commissioner and currently a minister gave him an edge over other aspirants in the state.
“These experiences cannot be bought in market places. All of these have positive effects on bringing about good governance in the state,” he said.
He said his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would continue to multiply victory at local, state and federal levels.
“The vote the APC will garner in the 2019 elections will outweigh that of 2015. This is because a lot of Nigerians are appreciating what the president is doing. A lot of people are keying into the agenda of the party,” he said.
He pledged that his administration would eradicate graduate unemployment by providing enabling environment for graduates to contribute to economic development through agriculture, improve infrastructure in schools and offer access to free education at all levels.
“The state owes its citizens the duty to provide access to higher education for all those who have the capacity,” he added.
