Mr. Issac Chukwu and Ebere Nwokocha were recently accused of factionalising the National Freight Hauliers Association (NFHA).
It should be put on straight records that Mr. Isaac U Chukwu is a registered Board of Trustee member of NFHA with the CAC. So, it will be most disrespectful and dishonourable to address him as a factionalist in his own association.
The general public should be informed that the NFHA has a constitution which guides the daily and general operations of the association. It is disheartening, therefore, to observe here that the immediate past president in the person of Major Jackson Bent (rtd) was president since 2006 till 2020 on appointment. He spent over sixteen years as president, contrary to the constitution of NFHA which provides for a term of four years of maximum of two tenures.
In his fourteen years of leadership, a series of petitions and vote of no confidence on his leadership had been received by the Board of Trustees which prompted the Board of Trustees to advise him several times from 2017 to call for a national convention to look into these issues. This he bluntly disregarded.
It should be emphasised here that the action of the Board of Trustees is in line with CAMA regulations which aim at checking the excesses of leadership. It is therefore good to inform the general public that the convention which removed the president – Major Jackson Bent (rtd) and his NEC from office was duly and constitutionally convened
The key officers were in attendance except he, and they include his former Deputy President. HRH Raymond Ugwu Agbo that constitutionally stands in his absence, equally swore in the caretaker committee members.
The former Secretary General and his Deputy, among other stakeholders; zonal Vice Presidents and State Representatives were also in attendance. Therefore, it should be on clear records that neither Mr. Chukwu U Isaac nor Mr. Ebere Nwokocha is a factionalist and NFHA is one without any faction.
