The Nigerian Police Force in Kano State, on Sunday, denied reports of an attempted attack on the convoy of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.
There were rumours of an attack on the Emir’s convoy along Zaria Road in Kano metropolis on Sunday.

But the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said it was a case of an accident involving the last vehicle in the Emir’s convoy and not a planned attack.
Kiyawa said, “It is a case of an accident.
“Emir of Kano’s convoy coming from Gadar Lado to Dangi Under Pass. On their way, a Toyota Corolla motor vehicle had a side collision with the rear escort vehicle of the convoy.
“Driver of the Toyota Corolla motor vehicle rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano for treatment,” the PPRO added.
He added that the incident happened when the emir’s convoy was heading to the palace through Zaria Road when one of the vehicles earlier stopped for the convoy to pass tried to sneak in, thinking that there was no other vehicle, which eventually led to the collision.
Daily Trust gathered that Emir Bayero was on his way back to the palace after attending a session of Ahmadiyya Muslim Clinic on Zaria Road in Kano.
Efforts to hear from the emir’s palace on the issue have however proved abortive as all calls placed to the acting Chief of Staff to the Emir, Alhaji Ahmad Ado Bayero, were not answered.
He has also not responded to the text message sent to his number as of the time of filing this report.
