The Secretary, Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hilary Otsu, has debunked the purported endorsement of an aspirant of the party in the September 21, governorship election in the state.
Some leaders of the party in Edo North Senatorial District have reportedly endorsed Asue Ighodalo as their preferred candidate for the election.
But, Otsu, who described the purported endorsement as a charade, noted that no official of the party was present at the alleged endorsement.
According to him: “Well I saw the video and the news but I was not there, I was not part of it and I was not even in the picture.

“Edo North leaders didn’t ‘endorse’ any aspirant. I didn’t see any party officials in that video. I think it was just a charade and of no effect.”
“The aspirant met with party senatorial exco and local government chairmen at the secretariat and they responded to him very well, which is traditional. Other aspirants also visited senatorial leadership to express their desire to them”.
Otsu, however, said that at the appropriate time, the Edo North leaders will issue a statement on what they want.
