The Federal Government said on Wednesday that it did not reach any agreement with the striking Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU).

The Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, said this on Wednesday while fielding questions from State House reporters after a six-hour cabinet meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the only thing the union had presented to the government was minutes of previous meetings held with the past administration.

The minister maintained that the government could not implement minutes of meetings.

"When we came on board, they (JOHESU) only presented to us minutes of previous meetings with the past government and we said we can’t implement minutes of meetings," Adewole said.

The minister also stated that the government had implemented 14 out of 15 demands by the union.

The union has been on strike since April 17 owing to an alleged Federal Government’s failure to meet their demands.

The president of the union, Josiah Biobelemoye, had listed their demands as including upward adjustment of CONHESS Salary Scale, arrears of skipping of CONHESS 10 and employment of additional health professionals, implementation of court judgments and upward review of retirement age from 60 to 65 years.
