Kyari said: “This is a very big moment for our country. We know that subsidy removal has translated to some spike in the cost of gasoline or PMS and Mr. President’s directive was very clear for the NNPC and its partners to do something so that we can have cheaper and cleaner fuel so that Nigerians can have relief and of course ultimately to reduce the cost of automobile fuel”
He said the first phase, comprising 21 CNG stations that would support intra-city transportation, would be ready by the first quarter of 2024. The second phase comprising 35 CNG stations will support intercity transportation.
The GCEO said the initiative would leverage Nigeria’s abundant natural gas resources to bring multiple benefits to Nigerians Including access to cheaper fuel, reduce cost of transportation, reduce carbon emissions, create new businesses as well as streams of job opportunities that will unfold.
