NNL champions Beyond Limits may sell NPFL slot — Soname

Newly promoted side to the Nigeria Premier Football League, Beyond Limits Academy may not participate in the top-tier football league next season.

The 2024 Nigeria National League champions is an academy of Remo Stars and owned by Hon Kunle Soname who revealed that the club is yet to decide on their participation in the NPFL next season in a chat with newsmen in Lagos.

It will be recalled that Beyond Limits joined El-Kanemi Warriors, Nasarawa United, and Ikorodu City FC to successfully secure their places in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2024/2025 season following their impressive performances in the Northern and Southern conferences at the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight playoffs, held in Enugu State.

Soname said that the club’s management are still in talks to debate on the requirements and challenges of participating in the NPFL.

“Football for us isn’t a social service, it’s a business,” he stated to the media.

“The management of Beyond Limits are in talks to see if they can cope with the challenges of the NPFL vis-a-vis the financial and the physical commitment.

“If they feel they can cope with it, they will play, but if otherwise, they will have to think of other ways of monetising their laurel.”

Meanwhile, Lobi Stars will begin preparations for next season on July 15 with the team undertaking pre-season training and player registration processes in accordance with NFF/NPFL regulations.

Lobi Stars finished the 2023/24 season in sixth position, missing out on a place on the continent. The 2024/25 NPFL season will begin on Saturday, August 29.
