The emergency trial of the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is set to begin at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who led Kanu’s legal team and Shuaibu Labaran, who is expected to appear for the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), are already seated in court.
The IPOB leader, who is facing terrorism charge, is yet to be brought to the court as at 9:54am.
However, reporters are on ground for the coverage.
The trial was scheduled after South East elders begged President Muhammadu Buhari for the release of Kanu.
They had visited Aso Rock last month and appealed to the president to consider their request.
Many groups and individuals have kicked against the request for Kanu’s release insisting that his treason trial must continue. (NAN)
