NMDPRA, NNPC differ as marketers traded 66.8m litres of petrol daily in 7 months

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (The Authority) has said the average daily truck out of petrol was 66.89 million litres from January to July this year.

This is different from the figures from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd recently said the average daily petrol supply up till August was 68m litres and quoted NMDPRA figures to be 68m litres daily. However, NMDPRA in a statement on Thursday, said it was 66.8m litres up till July. 

The Authority clarified some media reports citing figures by the House of Representatives’ Committee on Finance, that 62.9 million litres was 2022 baseline daily truck out projection.

NMDPRA said that the figure reported was used in 2021 as a projection for the Medium Term Expenditure and Revenue Framework (MTERF), a three year budgetary tool.

It said, “As can be verified from the website, the actual daily truck  out from 1st January 2022 to 31st July 2022 stands at 66.89 million litres.”
