The Katsina State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has conducted no fewer than 85 medical surgeries free of charge in two local government areas (LGAs). The surgeries were performed during its ongoing medical outreach services, the state NMA chairman, Dr. Mohammed Suleiman Usman said in Kafur LGA in the course of the program. Usman said 35 of such surgeries were done at Kurfi LGA while 50 were conducted at Kafur LGA.
“This is part of our social responsibility mechanism to contribute to health care delivery across the state,” he said, adding that the health outreach service was a continuous one as more councils would be reached. “So far about 3,500 patients have been attended to. We are committed to bringing quality health care to the door mouth of the people, we diagnose, treat and give drugs to patients free of charge,” he explained.
